This summer, Aamila is taking a short road trip to downtown Tulsa. She has been told that the area was once called “Black Wall Street” for the variety of businesses and services that were provided to Blacks by Blacks.

    So Proud

I love a hardcover book! When I read this book, I automatically thought Black Power Read - not just for children either. When I read it in its totality, I had a sense of pride closing it at the end. Reminding myself that the roots of my blackness is valuable and important just as the ones that came before me and paved the way; motivating themselves to become somebody. This book is such a cute and informative read for children. It gave me as an adult hope that we can accomplish anything we set our minds to and have a legacy regardless of the doubt, knowing we did everything we could do to be great.
