by M. Andrew Bogdania

When a Belarusian terrorist group poisons a Ukrainian presidential candidate as a trial run for further mayhem, an American environmental scientist and his peers find themselves caught up in a plot that could influence the geopolitical future of central Europe. U. S. EPA scientist Marcus Pivo, his attractive female legal coworker, and their deep-cover CIA friend attempt to diffuse an international terrorist plot to poison half of the Ukraine using contamination stolen from a plant in the Midwest that remained from the manufacture of the defoliant known as Agent Orange.

Several interwoven plot lines use dream sequences in which the main character, Marcus Pivo, envisions historical events that parallel modern-day geographic locations and pathways traveled while pursuing members of the terrorist group Red Dawn across the globe. Marcus attempts to accomplish this feat without his boss discovering the true nature of his mission and while his wife, Delores, juggles her own busy schedule along with unexpected family news.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

M. Andrew Bogdania is a former project scientist with the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency regional office in Kansas City, Kansas. He holds bachelor and master of science degrees in the earth sciences from Kansas State University and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in science education at the University of Kansas. Though this is his debut novel, Andrew is a published author of several earth science, environmental remediation, and science education-related articles. He is very interested in how students best learn science as well as better understand the interactive roles science and technology increasingly play in an ever-shrinking world.

Andrew attempts to live an amazingly normal life along the shores of Lake Michigan in Chicago, Illinois. He enjoys traveling the world, researching historical events and their impact on “cultural plate tectonics” and, of course, a well-brewed beer.
