Farmer Tim finds a damaged nest in the field with an egg in it. He gives the egg to his son Joshua, who hatches and raises the duck and enjoys a unique bond with her. In late summer, Joshuas family helps Danielle reunite with other mallard ducks at a nearby lake. She truly loves the lake and her new family. The following spring she has a family of her own, one that Joshua and his family visit often. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Rose Sherman has been married to her husband, Tim, for twenty-eight years. They live on Lake Loramie, close to the village of Minster, Ohio. They have raised three children: Joshua, a school teacher who is married to Krystel; they have a son, Nicolas. Craig and Kelly are in college studying the medical field. Rose enjoys the outdoors with her family, and they have a love for animals, including wildlife, the source of inspiration for many stories to come.
