El Presidente Lemus by Daniel S. Cardenas
El Presidente Lemus, written entirely in Spanish, is about an imaginary plot made to save the younger generation from starvation and hardship. Having the older adults to make hard and painful decisions and "legal" obligations, such as performing self immolation, once one reaches fifty years of age. Discontent becomes widespread and overwhelming in all of Mexico. So much so that the Northern Mexican States threaten to separate from the rest of the Republic, and to join the Empire of the North.
