Franklin County Memories
by Linda Jones Turner This book is about growing up in a little church on a hill. People back then had more faith and belief in God and knew He would always make a way. Older people were firmer than nowadays. If someone did something wrong, not only did they get whipped by the old folks, but they told the person's parents and they got another one. Oh! Those golden memories will last a lifetime. ABOUT THE AUTHOR I was born in Franklin County, North Carolina, in 1954. My parents, Willie and Pollie Jones, were farmers. I didn't have a glamorous life. Farming was hard but somehow, with the help of God, I made it. I served in the U.S.A.F. for ten years. I am a mother with two fine, handsome sons whose names are Winston and Brandon. They inspire me to write, especially Brandon. He writes poetry. I also play the piano, keyboard, and organ. I felt inferior because others went to music school and acquired their talent, but I have a God-given talent and play by ear. I am so grateful. I play for five church choirs, some of which are in that little church on a hill. God is the Master of my fate, and He is the Captain of my soul!
