by YooRee K This novel explores the depths of a mans quest in the ultimate search for the cure and restoration of his heart, soul, and mind after the sudden and tragic death of his wife. Clarence manages to find the beautiful meaning and symbolism life has to offer through his exploration of his self by relocating back to the South, where he had grown up and with which he feels a spiritual connection. He struggles to pave the way to free himself from his torturous past until he comes to learn that everything that happens in life has a direct purpose, a reason. It is when he accepts this truth that a hidden truth becomes known to him. He is finally set free as a result and is able to enjoy and find meaning and beauty in life once again. ABOUT THE AUTHOR I was born in Seoul, Korea and grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, until the age of eleven. I spent the next fourteen years of my life in Sacramento, California. In spring 2000, I received my bachelor of arts degree from the University of California, Davis, with a major in philosophy and a minor in English literature. Afterwards I received my teaching credential from San Francisco State University in 2001, and I have taught in the elementary grade levels for three years.
