Is ADD a Learned Behavior?
by Lois McCue

Is ADD a Learned Behavior? was written for parents and caregivers to help them understand a growing behavior problem that begins with the preschool child and often continues into adulthood.

To curb the problem, McCue emphasizes the importance of the six “R”s: routine, respect, responsibility, reading, ‘riting, and ‘rithmatic.

“Routine, respect, and responsibility are the primary components for early childhood education,” McCue states. “Reading, ‘riting, and ‘rithmatic will happen at a later time.”

She believes that if parents and teachers do not have high expectations and determination in promoting good behavior in their children, they may instead be teaching them to have ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) or as McCue coined it, Absence of Direction and Discipline.
