by Nancy Hall Jones

Long Neck Naked hatched earlier than the other chicks, so he has unique features; in fact, one might say that he looks quite strange. He has an extremely long neck, and he is naked from his head to his claws—not one feather ever grew on his body. The animals tease and abuse him. Once, the Ducks pulled his cap off, and Goat pulled the rest of his clothes off and ate them.

But Long Neck has an attitude that contributes to some of his problems. The Farmer’s Wife is kind to him; she nurtures him and tries to protect him, but Long Neck did some bad things to her, and he chides the other animals about their situation.

Will Long Neck Naked and the other animals ever get along? Join them in the barnyard to find out.
