Dr. Binie Ver Lipps received her Ph.D. in microbiology in 1965 from the University of BombayThe Haffkine Institute. She was awarded Dr. Khanolkars Award for young scientists for the best publication of the year 1965 from the All India Association of Pathologists. Before coming to the U.S. in 1966 to join the Baylor College of Medicine as a post-doctoral fellow, she had ten publications to her credit. She then served as a research scientist at Rice University. She earned teaching experience at Texas Southern and Texas Women universities. Besides these academic positions, she also worked for two biotechnology companies: Tanox Biosystem and KVM Technology. All of these positions were in Houston.
Dr. Lipps and her husband, Frederick, jointly own twelve U.S. patents. Dr. Lipps has over sixty publications in virology, histology, neurobiology, toxicology, biochemistry, and immunology. She has discovered a therapeutic for the treatment of neurological disorders such as Alzheimers and others.
Dr. Lipps was an invited speaker to the Netherlands in 2002 for the sixth European Symposium on saliva and to Maui, Hawaii, in 2003 to John A. Boswick Burn and the Wound Care Symposium. In 2006 she was invited to participate in the HHMI Janelia Farm Conference on neuron identities. She participated in the IBC Conference in Boston in 2007 and in Hyderabad, India, also in 2007. Dr. Lipps wrote this book because of her great interest in neurobiology and mental illness. In this book, she proposes a treatment for mental illness.(2008, paperback, 78 pages)
