by Choty-Anne Thomas The poems in this book evoke the loneliness of people dealing with lost loves, forgotten dreams, and broken hearts. Separated into three sections called Reflections in Anguish, Reflections in Repose, and Reflections in Tenacity, they seek to draw out into the open the strength, the resilience, and the indomitable courage of those who deal with the evanescent nature of hopeless dreams. Occasionally the spirit sustains itself through a resurgence of hope or a passionate acceptance of the inevitability of karma, or fate. The lines salute the vitality of all those who suffer their magnificent souls echo in the colors of the sunset and streak the contours of the world. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Choty-Anne Thomas has been interested in writing since an early age. She majored in English literature and won several prizes for her poetry during her college years. After graduate studies, she became a professor of English language and literature at CMS College in Kerala, India. With marriage, a family, and a career, she had little time to devote to writing but occasionally turned to this passionate interest and had short stories, articles, and a poem published in a leading newspaper and a popular womens magazine. Widowed at an early age, Choty settled in New York in the early eighties with her young daughter. She completed a course in childrens literature. Two of her poems won the Editors Choice Award from the National Library of Poetry and are published in their volumes. She took up writing again in earnest after a hiatus of twenty years and had a poem and article published in India Abroad, a leading community newsweekly. This is her first book of poems.
