by Irene Wallace
Over the past fifteen years, a whole new language has evolved—the language of the hugely popular internet and mobile phone. This book is a compact reference guide to common and not-so-common abbreviations used in Australia today. The categories, such as Medical, Government, Sport, Social, Education, and Real Estate, cover all areas of life and are listed in easy-to-find, A-to-Z format. So, if you don’t know what ROFL means in text talk, this is the book for you.
About the Author
Irene Wallace was born in Birkenhead, Mereyside, England, and immigrated to Australia with her family in April of 1970. Irene and her husband Wayne have five children, Glen, Jamie, Jason, Melinda, and Daniel, and a daughter-in-law, Bingbing. Irene has a busy life working full-time night shifts at her local hospital as an Emergency Department clerk. This book was compiled after Irene received a rather confusing text message from one of her children, and she also noticed how much abbreviations are used in everyday life. She would like to thank her children for their contributions to the text talk listings in this book.
