To Bridge the Great Divide: A Balancing Act the Copernican Way, A Futuristic Philosophy
by Johan Maritz

This is a futuristic, demystifying, and liberating philosophy that redefines some current values and perceptions in order to remove the mental shackles that burden human life. For this we need to bridge the religious and post-religious situations by differentiating between the cosmic design and metaphysics, the latter all of which are human constructs. These foremost need linguistic clarity.

As newly explained, we are now also doing away with intuition, innate ideas, the supernatural, etc., in their old forms by applying Freud’s and Darwin’s contributions to humanity: The senses are the creators of all subjective meaning that describes only fleeting situations. “Truth” that we always have liked to put on the pedestal of morality is one of those ambivalent flirts. In the past intuition, innate ideas, etc., have been seen as things spiritual, but they are in fact only experience laid down in the human subconscious. Spirituality, divinity, holiness, etc., are religious terminology, but a moral revival is impossible on these mystical premises! This book is a recipe for untying the knot not by the sword, but by utilizing the human mind as a situation.

About the Author

The author was an employee of a big South African bank, from where he went through the ranks and retired after forty-one years of service as branch manager and later as internal auditor. While working he was studying law at the University of South Africa when he stumbled across philosophy. He never completed a law degree but retained a lifelong interest in philosophy. After retirement he put together this book, his first and only one thus far. A lay philosopher for the layman…and the trained philosopher.
