Tracing the Steps
by Peggy L. Gannon Tracing the Steps is a tale of intrigue, adventure, and mystery based on the diaries of the authors great-great grandfather and great-great grandmother, Jeremiah and Maria Bradford. These newlyweds left Boston Harbor in 1847 for missionary work in the Sandwich Islands, now known as Hawaii. The author has woven the true adventures of the Bradfords and their shipmates with a contemporary, but fictional, Jim Swanson, a Washington, D.C., bank examiner who traces his descendants steps from a Boston-based cruise liner that sails through the Panama Canal to Hawaii. But, he is involved with a murder aboard ship that culminates with the ships docking in Honolulu. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Peggy L. Gannon studied journalism and business at the University of Colorado (Boulder, CO), and Mills College (Oakland, CA). Following college, she became a legal secretary in San Francisco and began raising a family. The author pursued her interests in writing and became an editor of Western Banker, a commercial magazine covering banking news from eleven western U.S. States (including Hawaii). Ms. Gannon is now a regular columnist with Meet Your Neighbor in a weekly paper published in Santa Rosa, CA that is focused on readers in Oakmont, an active adult community. Peggy loves to write. She has produced numerous childrens and other stories inspired, in part, by her two boys and five grandchildren. When the author is not writing or investigating the next story, she is swimming, walking her Labrador dog Smoochie, or traveling the world by passenger ship.
