I Survived Traveling and Living in the Middle East for Five Years
by Mary Margaret Johnson

In 2000 I decided to travel to the Middle East, Northeast, and South Asia. I thought it would be an interesting adventure, something different, and I would get to see places I would never see in my lifetime. As I moved from country to country, I tried to tell about the country, how the people dressed and the weather conditions, and much more interesting things in each place I went. My first stop was Abu Dhabi, UAE, which I dearly loved, but before we knew it September 11th came and changed our world. I wrote a letter from every place I stopped.

From Abu Dhabi, I went to Algiers, Algeria to Beirut, Lebanon to Karachi, Pakistan to Muscat, Oman to Islamabad, Pakistan to Rabat, Morocco and Kabul, Afghanistan. I went back to Muscat, Oman to Jerusalem, Israel to Cyprus again to Algiers, Algeria to Mumbai, India, and Baghdad, Iraq. From there I went to Muscat, Oman again, Doha, Qatar to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to Beirut, Lebanon, and finally Gulf Breeze, Florida, Washington, D.C., and Gulf Breeze.

About the Author

I am a mother and grandmother, and I live in Gulf Breeze, Florida. Besides taking care of my house, my son and my two oldest grandchildren live with me as well. I love flowers and tend to them on a daily basis, and I water the plants and my garden daily.

I was born and raised in Minneapolis and moved to Gulf Breeze in 1965, so I call it my home. I love to travel, hence the book, and I must admit I have traveled most of the U.S. and now the Middle East, Northeast, and South Asia. I hope you enjoy this book. There is unfortunately no more traveling now, as I have retired.
