Life has just begun

The authors love for poetry dates back to early childhood, as she remembers memorizing all of the Mother Goose nursery rhymes. She started to write after retiring from twenty-five years of teaching in the public school system. Feeling a need to keep busy, she enrolled in courses that offered classes in writing. The author has always enjoyed reading poetry. So, given the nature of the classes she attended, she tried her hand at writing poetry. She soon discovered that writing allowed her to release emotions and give voice to thoughts in print. Mrs. Kelly usually writes after witnessing or experiencing an event. The poem Katrina was penned after the event of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. She was inspired to write Dare to Hope after the 2008 Presidential Campaign and Barack Obamas successful triumph in the democratic primary. Each selection has a message to hopefully inform, uplift, and inspire.
About the Author
Emma Kelly is a graduate of Temple University with a BSW degree in Social Welfare and a masters degree in education (M-ED). She is presently married to her husband James and is the mother of three grown children and the grandmother of two. The authors favorite past-time includes reading, baking, gardening, line dancing, and researching family history. Researching her family history piqued an interest in gathering a collection of African artifacts, as well as African/Native American dolls, art, and memorabilia.
She values and enjoys quiet time in the early mornings as she reads the Bible and meditate on Gods word.
