Product Overview

by Shirley Stones A story of survival spanning two wars. It begins with a soldier who was shell-shocked during the First World War, and follows his fortunes from the POW camp, through to his marriage to the German girl who nursed him, and his subsequent family life. ABOUT THE AUTHOR I am a vegan, was divorced about six years ago, am now retired, and live quietly in a small flat in Cambridge. I practice yoga every day. Previously I was a schoolteacher for some years when my children were little. Later I ran a market stall for bric-a-brac, and then I had a little antique shop for over ten years. For the last twelve years, I have looked after rescued ex-racing greyhounds. Over the years, I have always written poetry and was keen to take a creative writing course when a friend introduced me to it. The tutor was particularly inspiring and conveyed the idea to me of turning a short story I had written into a book. The Survivor, my first novel, is the result, and I am now working on a book of short stories. I hope to give a percentage of my book sales to Greyhound Rescue.
