About the Author
Rich Samonte is a returning author to Dorrance with this third book to be published. He is a graduate of Chicago’s Austin High School, Blackburn College, Northern Illinois University, middle school teacher of 40 years in Downers Grove IL, today, now long retired since 2000 and 84 years old. He started this book years ago when he lost his wife in 2015. It is an intimate love story about a brown skin boy and white skin girl who met in college and developed a relationship in a rural central Illinois town in the 1960’s. During the height of the Civil Rights Movement, they both became wife and husband, elementary teacher and junior high teacher, mother and father, grandmother and grandfather, and whose lives were changed throughout their love for one another despite her mother and by a dreaded disease known as Multiple Sclerosis or MS. You’ll read and discover the challenges this interracial couple had to deal with while trying to achieve the “American Dream” plus coping with that devasting disease bringing you to a surprise ending.
