Product Overview
By Robert Mazibuko
One morning, when I was young, my mother woke up with a dream where she heard the statement: “Be patient to the end, and I shall give you the crown of life.” When she shared her dream, I wondered about the words, and later I found similar words in the Bible. I never fully understood what the statement meant then, and I can’t say I fully understand it today. For most of my life, my mother and I clashed in many regards, including my becoming a Baha’i, but the statement from her dream left a lasting impression on me.
This book, based on that initial statement, is a reflection on the lives of several people whom I hold in awe because of their achievements in this life. To me, their deeds have informed my understanding of the statement. Their lives were crowned with victory, but that victory entailed sacrificing their lives. As my life begins to ebb, I ask myself if I have made the sacrifice promised by my mother’s “crown of life.”
“…be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.”
